On June 12, 2024, the third edition of the Gala de la terre took place.<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

The Orchestre de l'Agora was proud to announce that it has donated a generous $120,000 to its three environmental organizations:<\/h3>\n

the Group for Research and Education on Marine Mammals (GREMM),<\/strong> WWF-Canada<\/strong> and the Sierra Club Canada Foundation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The organization thanked its presenter,<\/strong> Le Groupe Canimex<\/strong>, as well as the Canada Council for the Arts<\/strong>,
the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Qu\u00e9bec <\/strong>and all the partners and donors of the Gala.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The public was able to relive the highlights of this memorable evening thanks to the photo album shared on this occasion.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

THE GREMM BELUGA SAINT-LAURENT PROJECT<\/b><\/b><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

The belugas' voices were celebrated and heard... Thank you at the Gala de la terre <\/h4>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

On June 12, 2024, the belugas' voices vibrated beautifully in the Maison Symphonique de Montr\u00e9al.<\/b> A pure moment of communion. The poetry of Natasha Kanap\u00e9 Fontaineenrob\u00e9e<\/b> from the symphonic tale of Claudie Bertounesque <\/b>carried by Nicolas Ellis<\/b>, the musicians of the Agora Orchestra<\/b>, \u00c9lisabeth St-Gelais <\/b>and the Petits Chanteurs de Mont-Royal <\/b>transported the belugas of the
Saint-Laurent in the heart of an audience who loves art and nature. <\/p>\n

A small population of belugas has lived in the St. Lawrence for over 10,000 years. Isolated from neighboring populations in the far north, belugas of the St. Lawrence are endangered. Weakened by the sustained exposure to toxic products spilled in its habitat for decades, their population has never recovered from the intensive hunting of the last century. Belugas are now facing the upheavals caused by climate change. Our mission<\/strong> is to better understand belugas and their habitat through the scientific study of their behavior and monitoring their health. This knowledge is essential to define and implement concrete actions for the recovery of belugas and the conservation of the St. Lawrence ecosystem. <\/p>\n

The support of the Agora orchestra and its public allowed us to complete the financing of our new research boat Antares named after the beluga whale adopted by Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Back. Antares <\/strong>will replace Le Bleuvet,<\/strong> which has led us to the belugas every summer since 1989.<\/p>\n

Much more than a generous donation that will help us continue our mission to better understand and protect the belugas of the St. Lawrence, the Gala de la terre <\/strong>has brought back the history and fate of the belugas in our hearts.<\/p>\n
